50 years of Zambian independence | 50 volunteers | £10,000
To mark 50 years of Zambian independence and raise funds to support our work in Zambia, the trustees of Dignity invited you to join them in their 50:50 Challenge.
Wow! Thank you!!
We have been amazed and delighted by the response we received to the 50:50 Challenge. 39 volunteers raised an outstanding £18,575. There are still a few volunteers planning their 50s and money continues to be given in support of the challenge. We are so excited to see God blessing everyone’s efforts and making this challenge way more successful than we ever dared to dream.
We would like to say a Huge Big Thank You to everyone who took part in some way. We have been so encouraged by your time, energy and generosity and we are excited to see God making more possible!
Here’s why we took on our 50:50 Challenge…
Why? The work of Dignity in Zambia is growing! At the start of 2014 there were 116 Life! Groups with an estimated membership of about 2000. By the end of 2014 there were 180 Life! Groups, with an estimated membership of 3,600. That’s 180 communities seeing grass-roots development projects and 3,600 people being given an opportunity to receive Christian teaching and skills training. We are seeing people and communities achieve more than they ever thought possible.
We want to help the Life! Groups planted in 2014 make the best start they can. We want to work closely with their leaders, equipping them with the skills they need to run the groups. We also want to keep on pioneering our work in a new area so more groups can start thoughout 2015. The money raised through the 50:50 Challenge will go a long way towards both of these aims.
On Sunday 19th October 2014 an amazing team of 9 cyclists, including the charity trustees, officially kick-started the 50:50 Challenge, by cycling 50 miles and stopping for selfies outside 50 churches on route. You can read about their challenge here: We made it!
