One of the emerging themes of this year has been reaching the unreached. For the Dignity Zambia team, that means reaching all 10 provinces of Zambia. The Western Province is one that has eluded the team for some time now, and up until now, has never held a Life Group.
Back in February, Bernard travelled to Mongu to meet with Felix to discuss the work of Dignity and the idea of starting up some Life Groups, explaining that they could be an effective tool to help people know Jesus and to tackle poverty in their communities. Felix and his friends were so encouraged and excited by everything they discussed and Bernard made plans to return in May.
Bernard returned to Mongu last month with many of Dignity’s learning resources and was able to begin establishing a deeper connection with the community there.
Mila, a church leader from Mongu said:
“We thank God for answering our prayers, we have been praying for quite a long time now, asking for God to help us on how we can unite the body of Christ, the Christian family in Mongu.”
Dignity’s learning resources encourage people to work together to form community. They use the Bible to teach how to support one another as the family of Christ to help eliminate poverty and look towards the future. In Mongu the people were so excited to come together and welcome those from different walks of life.
“The way they embraced the initial visit in Mongu, it was so amazing, so encouraging.”
Now that people are equipped to plant Life Groups in Mongu you can pray that:
- Those who attended the Life Group training will put into action what they learnt.
- Any opposition to Life Groups will be removed and communities will welcome this new initiative.
- Holy Spirit will move in power and bring great unity between churches, making them effective in their communities.
