Tiwonge* lives in Petauke, Zambia, where traditional dancing for chiefs and the men of the community is common. For an outsider it can look overtly sexual, that’s because sometimes it is. The young girls who participate in the dancing often have no say in what happens afterwards.
15 young girls have been coming to the Life Groups that Tiwonge and others run, and something amazing is unfolding.
Together these girls have decided to resist the calls to participate in the dancing and everything that goes with it. Their involvement in a small community of people standing for Jesus has enabled them to do this.
No one told Tiwonge to help these girls take a stand. What is happening is the natural outworking of the knowledge and relationship that she has with Jesus. With knowledge, faith and a little bit of community boldness, wonders can happen!
Please pray for Tiwonge, the girls involved and the whole community at this time. We would love to see this event being the catalyst for Kingdom-coming across Tiwonge’s community.

Encourage more people like Tiwonge
Our day-to-day work is to seek out people like Tiwonge, who love Jesus and love their community. You can help us find and walk alongside more people by joining us in The Big Give Christmas Challenge this year and giving a financial gift between Tuesday 30th November and Tuesday 6th December.
How your pledge will help: Three years ago we met Gertrude and Kennedy from Petauke. They traveled 700km to learn about Life Groups and find support from others doing the same with Dignity. They had started around 5 groups and wanted to know more. Today there are around 25 Life Groups in the area, including Tiwonge’s. People are learning about faith and bringing practical help in their communities. The Big Give Christmas Challenge will raise £12,000 to equip 10 Mission Pioneers to carry the work of Life Groups further than we can take it ourselves, just as Gertrude and Kennedy did. They will meet hundreds of people like Tiwonge!
