Movement in Mazabuka

Mazabuka is a town in the Southern Province of Zambia, lying on the main Lusaka to Livingstone Road. In February, Mazabuka Community Church invited Dignity to run Life Group training for farm worker communities around the town for two days of training. They said;

“The focus will be equipping people to make a practical difference in their communities. Too much of church talk has made churches full of people ineffective in practically being salt and light. It is a cross church, discipleship program that calls for Christians to ‘love their village’ and in so doing actually disciple and change their communities so that more of the kingdom of heaven is visible on earth.”

Bernard and Royd focused the training on helping people understand how and why Life Groups are an effective tool for community development and Kingdom growth. They challenged mind-sets that would suggest outside help is needed for anything to change in our communicates, which so often leads to dependency. Instead, they encouraged people to understand who they are in Jesus, what purpose they have been given in their life and community and how together they can be the answer to many of the challenges faced in their communities. With this powerful foundation laid down over the two days of training, Bernard and Royd have promised to return and run in-depth Life Group training.

Three communities from around Mazabuka were represented at the event. Bernard and Royd have challenged them to return home and to share what they have learnt with others in their communities. They have been tasked with gathering about 30 more people before Bernard returns to them with a local team to run the in-depth training.

You can pray for:

  • Courage as people return home and speak to friends and family about what they have learnt.
  • Freedom from poverty of mind that says we have no power to change our communities.
  • Spiritual ears to hear Holy Spirit’s leading as people prepare for Life Group training.
