“Our persistence in Siavonga is overcoming the resistance we have faced” – Bernard Witika, Central Impact Team
We have been investing in the people of Siavonga since July 2012. A couple of Life Groups have taken root, but they have not multiplied of grown as we would normally see. You can read the story so far in our previous posts:
Since we last shared news of Siavonga we have paid regular visits and continued to seek out the people that God has placed there to lead Life Groups into growth and bring transformation to the wider community. Bernard returned to Siavonga early in August, taking with him Gertrude and Collins, new team members who live in the same province as Siavonga and who are learning the ropes from Bernard.
One of the challenges we have faced in Siavonga is the lack of consistent and reliable contact person; someone who will gather people and organise training events in advance of Impact Team visits. On this visit Bernard was looking for someone to step up into this voluntary role. A gentleman who was attending his first Dignity event volunteered and said this was something he could and would do. Bernard was encouraged by his willingness!
Also while he was there, Bernard found that there are 2 villages he has visited previously where people have taken the very first steps of preparing to plant Life Groups. Now, working with the new contact person, Bernard will arrange to return to these 2 villages and provide the next training steps for the people in these villages.
Persistence it seems is beginning to pay off!
