Around 25 new contacts and delegates gathered in Mkushi this week, to learn about the work of Dignity. People came from many areas like Luangwa bordering Mozambique and Zimbabwe, Mumbwa going into Western Province, Chipata and Katete in the east and even Siavonga in the south.

Dignity brings people together to learn about how to bring the Christian community together to make a God led difference in their community. They study some of the reasons why the situation is the way it is in Rural Africa and how we can make a difference. The importance of knowing Jesus as a source of life is always underlined and we look at how to express that life in many practical and spiritual ways. We also look at the importance of not being dependent on people and to have hope.

Some have described the approach of Dignity to be revolutionary. We like to think that it is rather the villagers of Zambia with God that can be a revolution. All we are giving them is a push in God’s and their fellow villagers direction.

Dignity has been running such schools for the last four years and Life! 2012 is part of an entire system of encouragement and education aimed at the church in Rural Africa taking hold of its calling to Love God and to Love Their Neighbour. During that 4 year period around 120 groups have been started, many people have truly understood the Christian Faith and many vulnerable people in villagers have been helped by their neighbours.

That’s a revolution in itself.
